The Kentucky Association of Counties installed its executive committee officers for the 2018-19 year.

Boyle County Magistrate Phil Sammons ran unopposed for KACo 2nd vice president. He joins the KACo Executive Committee which includes KACo President and Caldwell County Magistrate Elbert Bennett, KACo President-elect and Boone County Judge-Executive Gary Moore, KACo 1st Vice President and Madison County Judge-Executive Reagan Taylor, and Immediate Past President and Jefferson County Circuit Court Clerk David Nicholson.

Sammons will continue to serve as Boyle County magistrate, an office he has held for nearly 20 years and was re-elected to for a sixth term earlier this month in the general election. While the office of magistrate is one he knows very well, his new position of KACo 2nd vice president is an opportunity for new ideas and solutions.

"I'm honored to be on the Executive Committee, and I'm looking forward to serving as KACo president in a few years," Sammons says. "KACo benefits every Kentucky county, and I'm excited to help lead an organization that works hard everyday to make our counties stronger."

Sammons has played a major role at KACo for several years. He has served on the KACo Unemployment Insurance Fund Board since 2003 and was elected president of the Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners Association in 2009-10. He's a U.S. Army veteran and recently received military medals for his service.
